OHIO NORTH CHAPTER

2025 AWARDS COMPETITION | JUDGING CRITERIA

DESIGN INTENT (20 points)                                                                                                                   

  •           Clear and effective explanation of design concept (5)                                                                        
  •           Clear explanation of design criteria and goals (5)                                                                                
  •           Clear explanation of challenges (5)                                                                                                           
  •           Clear explanation of how design solutions address design concept, criteria, goals (5)

DESIGN EXECUTION (65 points)

  •           Effective execution of design solutions in addressing design criteria, challenges, goals (10)
  •           Cohesiveness of design elements and principles (line, form, texture, pattern, light, color, proportion, scale, balance, harmony, rhythm, unity, variety, emphasis) (10)
  •           Effective functional use of space (10)
  •           Effective functional use of finish materials (10)
  •           Effective use of color (10)
  •           Effective use of lighting (10)
  •           Appropriately sustainable or environmentally friendly (5)

DESIGN COMMUNICATION (15 points)

  •           Quality and clarity of narratives (writing mechanics, grammar, spelling) (5)
  •           Quality and clarity of visuals (overall layout, drawings, images) (5)
  •           Quality and clarity of photographs (5)

The designation of First Place is given to the highest scoring project. These projects must exhibit excellence in meeting all of the criteria. All projects must receive an average score of 70 or higher to be eligible for an award. All project submissions are awarded at the discretion of the judging panel. All entries will be reviewed, and no category will be omitted due to lack of participation (e.g. only one entry received). Awards are not guaranteed in every category (e.g. if all submissions in a particular category have an average score lower than 70.)

INDUSTRY PARTNER STAR AWARD (10 POINTS)

Please submit any Industry Partner you believe deserves recognition for their outstanding products, services, etc. Nominations will be vetted by the board and scored by a panel of ASID Members from ASID Chapters outside of Ohio, and are awarded based on highest score format.

1.    Nominee must be an ASID member in good standing.
2.    Nominee must demonstrate exemplary customer service and an outstanding commitment to our industry.
3.    Nominee must demonstrate leadership within the Design Community.  These contributions may be a combination of, but not limited to:
        •    Long-time ASID committee support
        •    Education to fellow colleagues and students
        •    Professional business practice that exemplifies the standards of ASID

DESIGNER OF DISTINCTION AWARD (10 POINTS)

Please submit an Interior Designer you believe deserves recognition for their commitment, advocacy, passion and professionalism to the interior design industry and exemplifies outstanding contribution through community outreach, volunteer service or leadership. Nominations will be vetted by the board and scored by a panel of ASID Members from ASID Chapters outside of Ohio, and are awarded based on highest score format.

1.    Nominee must be an ASID member in good standing.
2.    Nominee must demonstrate an outstanding body of work through a combination of, but not limited to the following:
        •    ASID Design Awards
        •    Published Design Work
        •    Awards Outside of ASID

3.    Nominee must demonstrate leadership within the Design Community. These contributions may be a combination of but not limited to:
        •    Long-term ASID committee support
        •    Mentor to fellow colleagues and students
        •    Active involvement in local board and events that represent or support the design community
        •    Professional business practice that exemplifies the standards of ASID
